Agaya Gangai Falls
About a thousand steps down to a 300-foot waterfall, and the same back up. It flows best after the monsoons, from August to January. Start early; the steps are in full sun by 11 am.

Half day, Moderate grade, up to 1,300m. Best season: Aug–Jan. Base: Arapaleeswarar temple, near Semmedu, Kolli Hills. Suits: Solo, Couple, Group.
How to reach it
Bus or taxi from Semmedu to the Arapaleeswarar temple. The steps to the falls start just beyond the temple.
Permits
A small entry ticket at the top of the steps. Bathing is banned when the falls are in spate.
Gear
Grip shoes, water and snacks. The climb back up is the hard part.
