Seven Rila Lakes trek: grade, cost & permits

Seven glacial lakes stacked one above another in a single cirque, from the Lower Lake (2,095 m) to The Tear (2,535 m), with the ridge view down over all seven. The chairlift lifts you to the Rila Lakes hut by Fish Lake, and the loop from there is about 10 to 11 km, 3 to 5 hours. Stay a night at the Rila Lakes hut or the Sedemte Ezera hut to have the lakes to yourself at sunrise, before the day buses arrive. Cost is a DIY total from the lift base: return chairlift, one night in a hut dorm and simple hut meals.
