A 75 km village-to-village walk through the mountains of Arcadia, from Stemnitsa to Lagkadia, and the first trail in Greece certified as a 'Leading Quality Trail - Best of Europe' by the European Ramblers Association. It has 8 official sections between 4.2 and 14.9 km, usually walked in 5 days. The first day, through the Lousios gorge past cliff-hung monasteries (Prodromos, Philosophou) to Dimitsana, is rated 4/5 and is the highlight. Then come fir forest and high plateaus up to about 1,550 m on the way to Elati, the Milaon river and old watermills down to Vytina, Kernitsa monastery, and woodcarvers' and stonemasons' villages at the end. Every night is in a guesthouse, so there's no camping and no carrying food for days. Instead of the crowded day-trip spots of the Peloponnese, you get proper mountain-village Greece. Our cost uses a Greek operator's 2026 self-guided price (6 nights B&B, lunches and luggage moves) plus buses from Athens, so booking it all yourself should cost the same or less; dinners are extra.
