Short answer

Hampi has no railway station. The nearest useful one is Hosapete Junction (HPT), about 12.5 km by road (about 15 minutes), where every long-distance train stops. From Bengaluru the overnight 16592 Hampi Express leaves KSR Bengaluru at 21:50 and reaches Hosapete at 07:00 daily, for about ₹260 Sleeper, ₹685 3A and ₹965 2A. From the Hosapete bus stand a KSRTC bus runs to Hampi Bazaar every 15 to 20 minutes for about ₹17; an auto is about ₹250.

Hampi is the ruined capital of the Vijayanagara empire: temples, bazaars and royal enclosures spread across a landscape of piled granite boulders on the Tungabhadra. The overnight train is the classic way in. You sleep on the way, and step off at Hosapete in time for breakfast.
