Quy Nhon is a working port city with a long town beach, Cham towers and some of Vietnam's best seafood, and it gets a small fraction of Nha Trang's foreign visitors: the whole province counted about 125,000 international visitors in 2025 against more than 4.6 million in Nha Trang's province. Fly from Ho Chi Minh City to Phu Cat airport (about an hour) or take the overnight train. The town beach is free; the famous coves, Ky Co and Eo Gio, are across the bridge on the Nhon Ly peninsula, easiest by rented scooter. Three or four days is right.
When to go
February to April is the sweet spot: dry (about 30 mm a month) and warm, not yet scorching. May to August stays fairly dry but hot (highs around 34°C) and is the domestic holiday peak. October and November are the wet months (460-520 mm) inside the May-November storm season, and Tet week brings closures.

Mistakes to avoid
- Storm season runs May to November (FCDO), and October-November bring most of the year's rain. Watch Vietnam's national hydro-meteorological forecasts and do not book boat trips into a storm.
- Gate fees at Eo Gio changed twice in June 2026 under a new operator, and Ky Co prices are not officially published. Expect different numbers and check at the gate.
- Riding a scooter needs a licence valid in Vietnam; without one your travel insurance may not pay out after an accident.
Ways to spend less
- Take the SE30 sleeper from Saigon: it goes all the way to Quy Nhon station, saves a hotel night and drops you in town at breakfast time.
- Go to Ky Co and Eo Gio on a weekday morning. They are the only crowded places here and are calm before the day tours arrive.
- Eat breakfast like the locals: banh hoi long heo or a bun ram bowl costs well under ₹100.
