Karnataka's highest peak, and one of the easiest 1,900-metre summits in India to reach thanks to a paved staircase most of the way. Views stretch across the Baba Budangiri range on a clear day. Popular enough to get crowded on weekends — go on a weekday or early morning.

How to reach it
Taxi or shared jeep from Chikmagalur town to the base of the steps; the last stretch is a paved staircase to the summit.
Permits
None required. An entry ticket is charged at the forest checkpoint.

Trainers, a light jacket — it's windy and can be surprisingly cold at the top even in daytime.
