An easy forest and grassland walk to the viewpoint that gives Ponmudi its name. Good for a first hill trek with children, and close enough to Thiruvananthapuram to do as a half-day add-on.

How to reach it
Walk from the main Ponmudi viewpoint car park; the trail is signed.
Permits
None for the main valley trail. The longer route towards Agasthyakoodam needs a separate forest department permit and is a different, multi-day undertaking.

Trainers, water, rain jacket in the monsoon shoulder months.
