Brno has the castle, Gothic spires, beer halls and underground passages that people queue for in Prague, at lower prices and with far fewer tour groups. Špilberk Castle, the Cathedral of Sts Peter and Paul, the Ossuary of St James and the Labyrinth under the Cabbage Market are all in or beside the compact old town. Villa Tugendhat, Mies van der Rohe's UNESCO-listed house, is a short tram ride out; book it well ahead. FlixBus runs from Prague in about two hours from €5.48, and from Vienna airport in under two hours. A 24-hour city ticket costs 90 Kč.
