Chitradurga Fort
Called Kallina Kote — the 'stone fortress' — Chitradurga's fort wraps seven concentric walls around a granite hill, with hidden tunnels its defenders used to outlast sieges.

Chitradurga Fort was built up over centuries by the Nayaka chieftains and later contested by Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan, and its defensive ingenuity is the whole draw: seven walls, secret underground passages, oil-pit traps for attackers, and temples and granaries built right into the granite. It's a straightforward half-day-to-day trip from Bengaluru, making it one of the most accessible serious forts in Karnataka.

October to February is most comfortable for the climbing involved. Summers (March–May) get very hot on the exposed granite.
