Topslip is the heart of the Anamalai Tiger Reserve, a grassland clearing in dense teak and evergreen forest above Pollachi. The forest department runs everything: stays in old rest houses, van safaris, guided treks and the elephant camp at Kozhikamuthi. It is the cheapest way to sleep inside a tiger reserve in South India. Parambikulam in Kerala is on the same road, and Valparai is up the next ghat.
